Yolanda D. Wolfel, 88, of Erie Avenue and formerly of Wolfel Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 following a lengthy illness.
She was born on August 26, 1936 in Johnsonburg, PA, a daughter of the late Carmine and Maria Pirillo Dragone.
On June 27, 1959, she married the late Raymond "Joe" Wolfel, who preceded her in death on October 23, 2017. Together they were blessed with more than 58 years of marriage.
Yolanda was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, class of 1954 and was a member of St. Marys Church. She retired from Silver Creek Terrace after many years of service. She also worked as a home health aide for a number of years, a position that brought her a great deal of joy. Over the years, she was active with Elk and Cameron County Right to Life and Letters from Home. Yolanda also advocated for and educated many people about Lyme's Disease, as well as founded a support group. She also was active with a post-polio support group. She enjoyed vacationing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children; Mark (Missy) Wolfel, Michael (Darla) Wolfel, and Rosemarie (Duane "Dewey") Schaut, all of St. Marys; and by her six beloved grandchildren; Rachel (Jess Wright) Wolfel, Molly (Nick) DeStephano, Zac (Danielle) Brody, Michael (Mariah) Wolfel, Jesse Wolfel, and Danielle Wolfel. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren; Beau, Carter, Avery, Marshall, Lucy, Hudson, Ziggy, Adalyn, Emory, Charlotte, Angelina, Jude, Jonah, Jordan, and Joy, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Chanel Wolfel, a son-in-law; Aaron Brody, two brothers; Samuel La Farr and Santo Dragone and by three sisters; Theresa Maloney, Jennie Iorfida, and Stephanie Franco.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Yolanda D. Wolfel will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Ignatius Camello, OSB, as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 8:30 until 9:30 AM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Marys Public Library.
