Thomas J. Mosier, age 78, of Hillcrest Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His daughters were at his bedside with his hand being held as he passed.
Born on September 13, 1946, in Dagus Mines, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Annabelle (Wildnauer) Mosier. On April 20, 1968, he married, Julia (Vollmer) Mosier, at Queen of the World Church. They shared more than 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2021.
He spent many dedicated years working in the carbon industry, first at Stackpole and later retiring from SGL, many of his coworkers continued to meet up with him each month at McDonald’s to share coffee, stories, and laughter.
Tom enjoyed the simple joys in life: sharing meals with family, chatting with friends and taking drives around just to stop in and visit people. He especially loved going out to eat with his children at local spots like the Hilltop and the Corner Restaurant, where he became a familiar face. He was always ready with a playful joke for the waitresses.
He spent many lively times at Ken’s pond and enjoyed hunting season. He also had a fondness for metal detecting, always drawn to the idea of uncovering a treasure.
He is survived by his three children: Jeanette Ford (Shane) of St. Marys, and Thomas “Tommy” Mosier of Kersey, Tammy Hetrick of Ridgway; his grandchildren: Travis, Thomas “TJ,” and Megan; and his great-grandchildren: Braylee, Lucas, Harley, Kash, and Daxton. He is also survived by his siblings: Bill Mosier of Kersey, Ken Mosier (Elaine) of Kersey, and Cathy Frederick of Emporium, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chris Hetrick.
