Stephen Gausman

March 31, 1947 — July 27, 2025

Stephen Howard Gausman passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born on March 31, 1947, and devoted his life to his work and family. He worked for 40 years at Keystone Powdered Metals as a tool and die maker, where his precision and craftsmanship were unmatched, he could work within microscopic increments, smaller than a strand of hair. He was proud of his work and prouder still to provide for his family, always putting them first.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 56 years, Gina (DeChano) Gausman, and his three daughters: Stacey (Gausman) Adamski and her husband Joe, Erika (Gausman) Martell and her husband Pat, and Jodie (Gausman) McVan and her husband Mike. He was a devoted and adoring Papa to seven granddaughters, who brought him endless joy and laughter: Abby, Allie, and Andie Adamski; Bella and Lucy Martell; and Maggie and Taylor McVan. He often joked about being surrounded by all girls and wouldn't have had it any other way.

Steve was the son of the late Elizabeth and Howard Gausman. He is also survived by his siblings: George (Mary Kay), Joseph (Linda), Allen (Roseanne), Karen Yonker (Bill), Eugene (Bonnie), Mary Teufel (David), and Theodore (Laura).

He cherished time with his family, his Walnut Street neighbors, and a lifelong network of friends throughout the area. He was happiest in his wood shop, where he crafted beautiful, imaginative pieces, and in his garden, where he grew tons of tomatoes and peppers for canning. A man of deep heart and quick wit, Steve had an infectious smile and a way of making everyone around him laugh.

He was the cornerstone of our family, hardworking, kind, creative, and loving. We will forever miss his expressive eyes, his humor, and the comfort of his steady presence.
