Shirley A. Hanes

Shirley A. Hanes , 78, of Walnut Street, St. Marys, died on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at UPMC Passavant McCandless following a lengthy illness.

She was born in St. Marys on October 18, 1943, a daughter of the late Ernest and Loretta Haberberger Hanes.

A lifelong resident of the area, Shirley was educated in the Catholic schools and worked at Quality Components for many years.  She never turned down a chance to shoot pool and could often be found watching a good Lifetime movie.  She enjoyed trips to Twin Lakes, always enjoying the summer sun as she floated on a raft in the lake.  She was a beloved mother and grandmother who also had a soft spot for her pets.

She is survived by one daughter; Linda Carpin of St. Marys, one son; James Carpin of St. Marys, by 6 grandchildren; Cruz Carpin, Dakota (Khanh) Carpin, James Carpin, Jr., Amber Carpin, Alix Carpin, and Aubrey Carpin, as well as by several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; James Hanes.

At Shirley’s request, funeral and burial services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
