, 41, of 628 North Michael Street, St. Marys, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
He was born on November 20, 1974, in Ridgway, a son of Robert Neil and Jane Young Gleixner, who survive. Scott was a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Criminology, completed the Act 140 training for Law Enforcement and had worked for the St. Marys City Police. He also graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford with a degree in Accounting. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Scott was an avid wrestler who enjoyed coaching St. Marys JO Wrestling and attending wrestling matches with his family. He had a great love for music, singing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and going to the beach. Described by his family as humble and kind, Scott always helped others in need and had a warm and comforting soul. Though he was never afraid to speak his mind, he was a friend to all with his kind heart and caring personality. He will always be remembered for his piercing blue eyes and his great sense of humor.
On June 30, 2001 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Kerrie Lewis Neil, who survives. In addition to his wife, Scott is survived by his parents, Bob (Terry) Neil of Brockport and Jane (Larry) Gleixner of St. Marys, and by his 3 beloved children, Madelyn, Cole, and Jack Neil. He is also survived by two sisters, Angie (Dan) Walter of St. Marys and Cari (Nathan) Wurm of York, his step-grandmother, Rita Meyer of St. Marys and his sister-in-law, Katie (Shaun) Charles of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jacob, Jayce and Jayna Walter, Nicholas, Noah, and Emma Wurm and Grace and Brandon Charles as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Scott loved his family with his whole heart and soul, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his children.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and June Neil, his maternal grandparents, Edward and Marie Young, his step-grandparents, Edward and Rena "Joy" Gleixner and his step-grandfather, James Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Scott R. Neil will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
