Ronald E. Smith

Ronald E. Smith, 73, of Ridgway, died on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Dubois Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 26, 1953, in Ridgway, the son of the late Edwin and Geraldine Snyder Smith.

Ron was a proud graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1972. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, dedicating 20 years to his military career before retiring. Ron enjoyed working with model trains and woodworking, often spending time creating and working with his hands. He also loved traveling, especially trips to the beach, and took great pride in gardening. These simple pleasures brought Ron much happiness throughout his life and created many fond memories for those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by 3 children; Bryan Smith of Johnsonburg, Jessica Smith of Texas, and Rachel Smith of Ridgway, a granddaughter, Mykaela Smith, 2 great grandchildren, John Lee Uplinger and Jace Black. He is also survived by four siblings; Cathy Smith, Robert Smith, Diane (Tom) Zelechoski, and Nancy Florio.

Funeral services for Ronald Smith are being held privately and at the convenience of the family.
