Robert A. Havrda

May 18, 1947 — Aug 28, 2026

Robert A. "Bob" Havrda, 79, of Johnsonburg, fell asleep in death at home on Friday, August 28, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born May 18, 1947, in Flushing, NY, a son of the late Fred and Hattie Johnson Havrda.

Though he grew up in Queens, the country was always in Bob's blood. He went west to Kansas State University, where he earned a degree in agricultural science, and he spent the rest of his life in Elk County enjoying the land he loved.

On June 20, 1970, Bob married his sweetheart, Eileen Greich. Their 56 years together were filled with love, companionship, and countless warm memories. Eileen survives.

Bob worked at the CDR Ridgway Ink Plant for 25 years. When they shut the doors, his hardworking nature and entrepreneurial spirit led to the start of Bob's Firewood, the business he ran until the day he went to the hospital. He was never one to sit still; he kept busy and could often be found lending a helping hand where it was needed. He was also a proud member of the Ridgway Eagles for 56 years.

Above all, Bob was a devoted family man who believed strongly in simply being a good and kind person. His family could always count on him, and he was happiest when he could do something for those he cared about. In his quieter moments, he was content to watch the wildlife around him and care for his animals.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by four children: Shane Havrda of Johnsonburg, Ryan Havrda of Annapolis, MD, Ethan Havrda and his wife, Erica, of Johnsonburg, and Justine Pitoni and her husband, Louis, of Ridgway; four grandchildren, Elexis Havrda, Emma Havrda, Nikki Iozzo (Chris), and Josh Havrda (Lauren); and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Violet. He is also survived by a sister, Jocelyn Weisman of Texas; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Havrda of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Havrda.

A gathering to remember Bob will be held Tuesday, September 8, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Event Center on Silver Creek, 399 Silver Creek Rd, Johnsonburg, PA. The family invites friends to join them for conversation and light refreshments.
