Rita T. Eckert

Rita T. Eckert, 102, of Silver Creek Terrace, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at home after a brief illness.

She was born on June 14, 1921, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Modenbach Knight.

On July 17, 1945, she married the late Howard Eckert, who preceded her in death on November 7, 1990.

Rita was a simple loving woman who loved to spend time with her family. For many years she spent her Sundays hosting her whole family over for a big meal. She enjoyed playing cards, doing word search, and tatting.

She is survived by one son, Alan Eckert and his wife Kim of Ridgway, 4 grandchildren: Scott Marrone, Andrew (Koyumi) Marrone, Erin Hughes, and Kasey (Brandon) Hull, 7 great grandchildren, Sarah, Claire, Christopher, Henry, Makenzie, Kingsley, and Gunnar, a grand daughter-in-law, Brenda Tristen, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Eckert, 5 sisters; Anges Eckert, Gertrude Mecca, Veronica Farley, Dorothy Knight, and Dolores Yost, and 4 brothers; John, Othmar, Ferdinand, and Edward Knight.

Funeral Services for Rita T. Eckert will be held privately by the family.

Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
