Richard E. Herzog, 87, of Ridgway, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on December 29, 1938, in Ridgway, the son of the late Harry and Martha Streich Herzog.
On August 24, 1963, he married Beverly Wilson, who survives.
Dick was a dedicated and hardworking man who devoted much of his life to serving his community. He retired as Supervisor of the Ridgway Water Plant after 56 years of service. His knowledge and commitment to the water industry earned him the Operator's Meritorious Service Award from the American Water Works Association. Dick also shared his experience with others, teaching for 10 years at Penn State DuBois.
A proud veteran, Dick served his country in the United States Army in artillery surveillance. He was also a member of the Ridgway Moose, where he especially enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends. Dick was happiest outdoors, whether he was caring for the grounds at the reservoir, taking a peaceful walk through the woods, or simply enjoying nature. He also gave his time as a baseball coach and enjoyed being part of the lives of the young people he coached.
Above all else, Dick was always there for his family, whether it was spending weekends babysitting, coaching, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time together.
