Michael "Mike" Joseph Marrone, 56, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, formerly of Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2026.
Michael was born on October 2, 1969, to Kathleen Copella. He was later adopted and lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Helen (Horvatin) Marrone.
He was a 1988 graduate of Johnsonburg Area Junior/Senior High School. Following graduation, Mike proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a medic.
After his military service, Mike became an EMT in Johnsonburg. He eventually discovered his true passion in life and dedicated his career to over-the-road trucking. During his many years behind the wheel, he owned and operated his own semi-truck and worked for several trucking companies, most recently G & H Motor Freight. Often referring to the road as having "the best office view," Mike spent millions of miles traveling the country and took great pride in his work.
As a former serviceman, Mike carried a deep sense of pride in having served his country. His appreciation for firearms was more than a hobby; it was a passion he enjoyed sharing with others through his knowledge and experience. In his downtime, Mike enjoyed playing World of Warcraft.
Every summer, Mike looked forward to returning to Pennsylvania for several weeks to spend time with family and friends. He shared a particularly close bond with one of his nephews, who reflected, "I always thought of him as a father figure." In the coming years, Mike had planned to retire and return permanently to the area he always considered home.
Mike is survived by his siblings: Jolene Marrone, Kimberly Marrone and Todd (Michelle) Groeger. By nieces and nephews: Robert (Jenna) James, Steven (Catherine) James, Randy (Shaina) Houttekier, Amanda (Joe) Davis, Gillis Farrow IV and Tori Groeger. Great nieces and nephews: Levi, Ava, Landon, Landrey, Leroy, Annslee, Aubrie, Levon, Adrianna, Korbin, Carson, Nehemiah, Nicole and Rhyan. He is also survived by his cousin's Jennifer (Patrick) Somers and Jeffrey (Sharon) Wonderling.
Mike was preceded in death by Kathleen Copella (mother), his maternal grandparents/adoptive parents: Mike & Helen (Horvatin) Marrone, an aunt: MaryAnn & a cousin: Dr. Michael S. "Skip" Marrone.
Mike will be remembered for his humble & gracious demeanor, his service to his country, his love of the open road, and the countless memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life is being planned at a later date which is yet to be determined.
