Mary Beth Ireland

September 5, 1932 — March 24, 2026

Mary Beth Ireland, 93, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Weedville, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, following a brief illness.

She was born on September 5, 1932 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late Glenn Foster and Eunice Antonelli Huff.

On May 22, 1954, in St. Michael's Church in DuBois, she married the late Andre Ireland, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1999.

Mary Beth was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School and received her nursing degree at Clearfield School of Nursing. She dedicated her life to nursing, having worked for many years at our local hospital, then retired as the Director of Nursing from Pinecrest Manor. A devoted and compassionate nurse, Mary Beth carried a quiet grace and cared for others with great pride. A member of the Bennetts Valley Legion and Senior Center, Mary Beth enjoyed working crossword puzzles and getting together with the girls she went to nursing school with. After her retirement, she looked forward to morning breakfasts to reconnect with the friends she worked with for many years. Mary Beth had a remarkable way of seeing the good in others, often before they saw it in themselves. She enjoyed the timeless voices of Elvis and Danny O'Donell, whose songs always brought a smile to her face.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures such as a car ride to get some ice cream, or lingering over the morning newspaper. Her presence was a comfort, her words were thoughtful, and her heart was generous. She inspired those around her to be better, kinder, and more understanding. Though she will be deeply missed, the light and love that she brought into the world will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She will also be fondly remembered for the love of her family.

She is survived by three children; Michele (Richard) Smith of St. Marys, Michael (Gerri) Ireland of Weedville, and Jill (Jeff) Chiodo of Weedville, and by her eight beloved grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Beth was preceded in death by her sister; Joyce Dick and by her longtime companion, Jim Moorehouse.
