Marla D. Johnson

Marla D. Johnson, 87, of Ridgway, died on Friday, September 18, 2026, at UPMC Hamot follow a brief illness.

She was born on October 23, 1938, in, a daughter of the late Guy and Gertrude Bloumquist Speaker.

On October 17, 1958, in Maryland, she married the late Donald E. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 2025.

Marla was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School and dedicated many years to her career at Elk Regional, retiring after 38 years of service in the accounting office. Later in life, she and Don moved to Florida, where Marla began a new chapter, working as a state park manager for 15 years.

Marla truly enjoyed being around people and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She loved cooking, playing cards, and heading to the Eagles for a good game of bingo. A true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her team. Marla was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, her love of good company, and the many memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Susan Matson of Ridgway, Joi Fultz and her husband Dave of Townville, PA, and Carla Boni and her husband Robin of Ridgway, 9 grandchildren: Sara, Amie, Morgan, Emily, Rebecca, Daniel, Mary, Ruth, and Kevin, and 3 great grandchildren: David, Reyn, and Marlowe. She is also survived by a brother, Donald "Bud" Speaker and his wife Carol of Ridgway, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Johnson, a son-in-law, David Matson, and a sister, Jeannine Hefright.

A Funeral Service for Marla D. Johnson will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at The Bible Training Center. 657 Evergreen Drive, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Pastor Ron Burkett officiating.

Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Bible Training Center from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
