Leo "Buddy" Clerkin

Leo Francis Clerkin, 71, of Weedville, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on October 8, 1954, in Johnsonburg, a son of the late Charles E. and Violet M. Steudler Clerkin.

On May 21, 2011, he married Diane Kunsen, who survives.

Buddy will be remembered as a man of strong faith, a generous heart, and a life well lived. His faith was the foundation of his life. He could often be found reading his Bible, and he remained especially proud of serving as an altar server at Holy Rosary during his childhood. He found joy in the simple things-hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar-and he never missed an opportunity to share a good conversation or tell one of his many memorable stories.

To his family, Buddy was so much more than a relative. He was the favorite uncle, the favorite brother, and the favorite grandpa, always making those around him feel loved with his warmth, humor, and genuine interest in their lives.

Buddy also took great pride in being a pig farmer. He cared deeply for his animals and was known for giving each of his pigs a special name, a reflection of the kindness and character he brought to everything he did.

In addition to his wife, he survived by 2 sons, Andrew Clerkin and his wife Stacie (Wolfel) of Weedville and Anthony Clerkin of St. Marys, 9 grandchildren, 2 stepchildren, Sam Hutton of Byrnedale and Tiffany Hutton of St. Louis, MO, and a step grandchild. He is also survived by a 2 sisters, Mary Jo (Paul) Moneta of Habor Creek and Kim (Rick Kirby) Clerkin of Edinboro, and a brother, Shawn (Almitra) Clerkin of Erie, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Clerkin, and a sister, Paula Kay Clerkin.

Funeral Services for Leo F. Clerkin are being held privately by the family.
