Joseph Gasbarre

Joseph Hugo Gasbarre, 74, of Ridgway, passed away after a brief illness on August 17, 2025. Born in Ridgway, he was the son of the late George P. and Nellie (Mann) Gasbarre.

On August 30, 1975, he married Constance Duell at St. John's Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg. They shared 32 happy years together and raised two children, Joseph (Shannon) and Matthew (Connie). Constance preceded him in death in 2007.

On October 9, 2011, he married Melinda Cribbs at St. Marys Methodist Church, and together they shared 14 wonderful years; she survives. He was also a step-parent to Tony (Sheena) Krug.

Joe was a proud grandfather. He is survived by his five grandchildren: Clark, Grayson, Spencer, Luke, and Sam; and his step-grandchildren, Sloan and Millie. He deeply enjoyed following their activities, attending their games, performances, and events whenever he could.

He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Bonnie) Gasbarre along with extended family and many friends who will miss his kindness and dedication.

Joe was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Medical Technology and was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma fraternity. He spent most of his career at Elk Regional Health System, where he served as Director of Purchasing.

A lifelong resident of Ridgway, he dedicated 45 years as a volunteer firefighter, serving as high as Assistant Chief, and was an active member and president of the Ridgway Ambulance Corporation. His generosity extended well beyond emergency services-whether working Bingo at the Firehall or coaching his sons' sports teams, Joe was always eager to lend a helping hand.

A private service will be held at Krise Funeral Home in Ridgway. 

A Celebration of Life for Joseph Gasbarre will take place at the Ridgway Firehall on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 12 pm-2 pm.

Burial will follow at St. Leo's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ridgway Ambulance Corporation or the Ridgway Fire Department. 

The family would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at Penn Highlands Elk, Dubois, Ridgway Ambulance and Community Nurses for their care of Joseph during his illness.
