John T. Moran, 92, of Ridgway, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on May 11, 1933, in Kane, the son of the late James A. and Nellie W. Whitaker Moran.
On July 4, 1959, he married the late Margaret Moran, who preceded him in death on February 8, 2011.
John was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Kane High School, class of 1951. After graduating from Lycoming College in 1959, John built a successful career, initially with Holgates and later retiring from Motion Control. A proud Eagle Scout, John dedicated over 30 years to volunteering with the Boy Scouts, positively influencing the lives of countless young scouts. Additionally, he served his community through his participation on the Ridgway Borough Council , as well as on the boards of Solid Waste and the 911 board. He was also a proud member of the Ridgway Eagles and the Ridgway American Legion.
An avid reader and could often be found walking along the rails to trails or enjoying peaceful canoe trips down the Clarion River. He always looked forward to having lunch with Tom at Texas Hot.
John joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951, where he served his country proudly both at home and abroad. He spent time stationed in Japan, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service was distinguished by numerous accolades, including medals for Good Conduct, American Defense, and the Korean Unit.
He is survived by 2 sons, Tom Moran and his wife Pam and Tim Moran, a grandson, Brian and his wife Danielle, and 4 great grandchildren: Marissa (her Fiancé , AJ Trobek), Brian, Alex, and Lexi.
A Memorial Service for John T. Moran will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA, 15853, with Pastor Ron Burkett officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
Military honors will be in accord by the Ridgway, Johnsonburg, Wilcox burial detail.
Family and friends will be received at Krise Funeral Home from 3:30 PM until the time of Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgway Library, 329 Center Street, Ridgway, PA, 15853.
