Joan L. Dutchcot, 77, of Ridgway, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Pinecrest Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 28, 1949, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Aloysius and Iva Moyer Gier.
On June 13, 1970, at St. Leo Magnus Church, she married John "Pete" Dutchcot, who survives.
Joan was a 1967 graduate of Ridgway High School and a devoted member of St. Leo Magnus Church, where she taught catechism for many years. She also served as secretary for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Joan was an active supporter of her community and proudly volunteered with the Ridgway Wrestling and Football Boosters. She enjoyed baking, especially her delicious chocolate chip cookies and the special cakes she lovingly made for her grandchildren.
Above all, Joan's family was the apple of her eye and the center of her world. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved, always giving 100 percent of her time, attention, and support. Whether cheering from the sidelines, celebrating special occasions, or simply being there when someone needed her, Joan was her family's biggest supporter. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and succeed, and the love and dedication she showed them will forever be her greatest legacy.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children; Leslie Dutchcot of Sarasota, FL, Brian Dutchcot and his wife Mandy of New Enterprise, and Bradley Dutchcot and his wife Jacquelynn of Saegertown, and five grandchildren; Andrew, Eli, Jack, Jacob, and Lucas. She is also survived by two brothers, Bob Gier and his wife Dixie of Ridgway and Bill Gier and his wife Cheryl of Lynchburg, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Gier, a sister-in-law, Debbie Gier, and a special cousin, Linda Gier.
