Ivan J. Geci

Ivan J. Geci , 81, of 1013 Brusselles Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the home of his niece following a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 26, 1935, a son of the late John and Catherine Garbic Geci.

Ivan was a member of Queen of the World Church.  He worked as an auto mechanic and at Stackpole Carbon Company for many years.  He worked along with his sister and brother-in-law, at the Trout Run Lodge as a groundskeeper and watchman for many years.  In 2005, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by American Legion Post 103 for his years of volunteering to make the community a better place to live.
Ivan will best be remembered for coaching the Martinettes, a women's softball team known for winning tournaments.  He also donated more than 25 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.

He is survived by a brother, David Geci of Austin and by a sister, Elizabeth Geci of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ilene Geyer, Margaret DiNardo, Mary Cunningham, and JoAnn Geci.  He was also preceded in death by six brothers, John Geci, Joseph Geci, William Geci, Rudolph Geci, George "Bucky" Geci and Paul Geci in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ivan J. Geci will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Jeff Noble, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
