Frances A. Fleeger

Frances A. "Fran" Fleeger, 82, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Saint Marys, following a brief illness.

She was born on March 20, 1944, in Slippery Rock, PA, a daughter of the late Anthony and Helen Armstrong Labor and was adopted by the late Robert and Alda Christy Armstrong.

On November 15, 1969, in Slippery Rock, PA, she married Dale Fleeger, who preceded her in death on February 20, 2023.

Fran was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a warm, loving home. In addition to raising her family, she worked cleaning the dormitories at Slippery Rock University, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature. Fran lived in the Slippery Rock area until 1997, when she moved to St. Marys to be closer to her beloved grandchildren, whom she lovingly babysat and cared for over many years. Fran found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and had a special love for animals, particularly her cherished dog, Percy. Fran enjoyed watching soap operas, crime mystery programs, animal health shows, and real-life emergency room documentaries. In her spare time, Fran loved knitting hats, baking treats for family and friends, and reading novels by her favorite author, Nora Roberts. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her family and animals will be remembered and treasured by all who knew her.

Fran is survived by one daughter; Kellie Frey, of Saint Marys, and by her two beloved grandchildren; Margaret "Maggie" Frey and Hunter Frey, two brothers; Donald Labor and Jim Labor, and by one sister; Donna McFadden. She is also survived by her ex-son in law; Dean Frey, and by Darnella Burdick of Pinecity, NY, whom she has been a mother figure to since 1990.

In addition to her parents, adoptive parents, and husband, Fran was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert Labor and Robert Armstrong, her twin sister; Florence Sheare, and by three other sisters; Katherine Thompson, Laura Click, and Betty Irene Armstrong.

A Funeral Service for Frances A. "Fran" Fleeger will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
