Eugene Steis
December 17, 1926 — December 24, 2017
Eugene A. "Gene" Steis, 91, of 195 Dagus Mines Road, Dagus Mines, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his home.
He was born on December 17, 1926, a son of the late Harry J. and Ruby M.Smith Steis.
Gene was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Area schools. He worked for a number of years for several woodworking companies and had co-owned the Twin Springs convenience store and restaurant with his mother. Following his retirement, he worked for Kunes Auto. He taught and played the organ professionally, and enjoyed traveling and his dogs.
He is survived by one brother, Jerome (Mary) Steis of St. Marys and by one sister, Ruby Kirkland of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Steis, and by two sisters, Florabelle Feldbauer and Sandra Walker.
Funeral Services for Eugene "Gene" Steis are being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society.
