Donald E. Johnson, 90, of Ridgway, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.
He was born on December 12, 1935, in Ridgway, the son of the late Reynold W. and Leona Ives Johnson.
Donald was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marla Johnson, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage since their wedding on October 17, 1958, in Maryland.
Don was a proud graduate of the Johnsonburg High School Class of 1954. Following his education, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Don dedicated his career to his community; he began as an auto mechanic and later became a police officer for the Ridgway Borough Police Department, where he served for 30 years before his retirement.
A true enthusiast in every sense, Donald found great joy in hitting the greens as an avid golfer. His love for the sport was matched only by his creativity in woodworking, where he crafted pieces that reflected his craftsmanship and care. Whether on the golf course, in his workshop, or surrounded by family around a campfire, Donald's warmth and humor shone brightly.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters; Susan Matson and her husband Dave of Ridgway, Joi Fultz and her husband Dave of Townville, PA, and Carla Boni and her husband Robin of Ridgway, 9 grandchildren: Sara, Amie, Morgan, Emily, Rebecca, Daniel, Mary, Ruth, and Kevin, and 3 great grandchildren: David, Reyn, and Marlowe. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Donna (Bob) Peterson of Linden, PA, and Judy (Frank) Lebrecht of Besonville, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Johnson, 2 sisters, Ellen Pistner and Arvilla Krise, and a brother, George Johnson.
