Anita E. Vollmer

Anita Eileen Vollmer, 79, formerly of Sunrise Road, St. Marys, passed into God‘s embrace on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Elk Haven Nursing Home. She was listening to John Denver and holding the hands of her daughters as she took her final breath.

She was born January 21, 1947, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Brown Green.

On May 21, 1966, she married her handsome sailor, Joseph Vollmer, who proceeded her in death on April 8, 2025. Together, they shared more than 58 years of love, laughter and travel.

Anita was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1964, and was a member of St. Marys Methodist Church. For 30 years she was one of the amazing Ames girls where she made lifelong friendships. Later, she retired from Rite Aid, carrying with her a strong work ethic and a genuine kindness that touched those around her. Away from work, Anita poured her love into all the children she babysat and her family, pets, and friends. She had a great love of Neil Diamond and loved going to music concerts. Anita‘s favorite activity was camping and each spring the migration (of anything not nailed down) from the house to the camper began. Anita loved nothing more than sitting around the campfire making mountain pies and sailing with Captain Morgan, telling stories and laughing with her friends. Music filled her life and anyone that knows Anita can remember her singing and dancing until the band stopped playing. People were important to her and she never forgot their favorite food or something in particular they would like for Christmas. Anita loved crossword puzzles and musicals and knew the words to every song.

Anita is survived by two daughters; Jody Vollmer of St Marys and Crystal (Steve) Gornati of Kersey. She is also survived by three siblings; Denny Green of Arizona, Allen (Linda) Green of St Marys, and Barry (Hannah) Green of Kersey, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Anita was preceded in death by a sister; Carol Green in 1944, two brothers; Arnold in 2024 and Clifford in 2025, five sisters-in-law; Patty Green, Kathy Green, Barbara Green, Mary Vollmer and Delores Vollmer; two brothers-in-law; Ed Vollmer and Michael Vollmer, and by six nieces and nephews; Connie Nestlerote, Ron Green, Michael Schloder, Shawn Green, Tommy Vollmer and Jeanie Vollmer.

Funeral services for Anita E Vollmer will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the St Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 10 AM until the time of service.
